Lanslet Oliver was born around 1703-1704 in the north of Ireland...maybe Antrim. His first wife was named Mary. The first known record of them is found in 1729 at Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts which is near Boston. The town constable "warned" Mary Oliver, wife of Lanslet Oliver, to take her children and depart.

In 1738 their son Robert Oliver was born. He is said to have been born near Boston, Massachusetts. Mary Oliver died shortly after his birth.

Lanslet Oliver then married a Mary Walker, a sister to William Walker. In 1748 Lanslet Oliver owned a house in Worcester Township, Worcester County, Massachusetts "on the road to Holden." In 1749 he bought land in Rutland (later called Barre), Massachusetts. He lived here for over thirty years. He was a farmer.

Lanslet Oliver died in 1781 and is buried in the Caldwell Cemetery in Barre, Massachusetts, next to two of his sons who died in their teens. His second wife, Mary, died in 1788 and is buried in Chester Center near James and Isabella Quigley.

, This list is an attempt to arrange all who have been members of the
church in the order of their admission. In the "List of
Communicants," the names are arranged alphabetically, usually with
the record of the date of admission. The names also should appear in
the minutes of the Session, thus furnishing duplicate sources of
information. Unfortunately, neither the names themselves nor the
dates always correspond and there may be some errors growing out of
that fact. As the effort was made to transcribe literally no attempt
was made to edit the spelling of names as given in the records which
will account for the members of the same family having their names
    spelled in a different way.

  18. [S11815] GEORGIA- MILITARY - MEXICAN WAR Extract,TRANSCRIBED BY Lindy Hard, Brasos Santiago, July 24, 1846

The ship Empressarie sails for New Orleans to-day, with Col.
Walton’s Regiment of Louisiana Volunteers and Capt. Desha’s
company. The troops are the first detachment of the 5,000
six months volunteers, all of whom are to be disbanded and
return home as fast as transportation can be supplied. This
order will leave Louisiana without any troops in the field,
and will make way for the advance into Mexico, of the 12
months men-our Regiment among the first. The first Ohio
Regiment marched for the river 3 days since. We move next.
Our destination will be near Burita. We had Capt. Desha to
dine with us yesterday-not to take a “hasty plate of soup”-
for we had none-but to eat some bacon, which the Captain
pronounced a prodigious luxury, as he had been feeding on
Ranchero beef for two months. From the Captain (and this
the object of speaking of the bacon) we learned all the
floating news from Head-Quarters. Gen. Taylor is nearly
ready to move. He is pushing on supplies as fast as
possible, as the old gentleman wishes to take Monterey and
Saltillo before peace is made. He seems to think it
necessary to be in a hurry tavoid being to late. It is very
difficult to get news here. We are on the qui vive for the
inexpressible luxury of a batch of American newspapers, from
which we expect to learn some news of the Army and Mexico.

I regret to say that our sick list is increasing. Nearly
one hundred answered the Surgeon’s call this morning. The
complaints are not serious-Dysentery and Colds-the latter
from the flying sand-are the prevalent complaints. Some
cases of fever. Inaction in camp is the worst thing for
    troops. Yours, F.

  23. [S10627] Erin Courtney, "Courtney," e-mail to Jenny Rasmusson, 9/25/2006, I have attached the pictures from the cemetery in Mobile. Nathan appears to be buried in an unmarked grave. I think that I told you I did find his death certificate which lists him as buried in Lot 92. I verified with an historian that the cemetery listed (can't lay my hands on it now) was indeed Old Church Street Cemetery. There are 3 graves in that lot, only one of them unmarked. With the evidence, I have to be 99.9% sure it is Nathan. What in the heck did he do to drive off his wife and 4 kids and then be buried in an unmarked tomb? The family appeared to have money. From the pictures, you can see that it is an old concrete tomb. Mom and I found some old bricks and tried to make a cross on it for him.

  6. [S10518] Quigley Genforum, online www.genforum.com/quigley/, I wish I could send you some information about my Quigly/Quigleys but I haven't been able to dig up a whole lot. Hoping you might have some information on a Daniel Quigly living in NJ in the late 1700's. He had two sons that I am aware of, William (b.c.1801 in NJ) and Nathaniel. Daniel was in Mobile AL by 1840 and died there in 1860. William and Nathaniel married Somers girls (possibly sisters, Eliza and Deborah) and were in Mobile at least by 1831. William died of smallpox in 1836 and Eliza ended up in Illinois. I am guessing Nathaniel died between 1840 and 1850 as Deborah and her 4 children, Julia, William, Uncas and Thomas ended up in Hocking Co. OH in 1850.
Daniel was married to Margret and tradition has it that both were born in Ireland.
    Thanks for any help!

Edit Virtual Cemetery info [ Virtual Cemetery:] body=[What is a Virtual Cemetery?

A Find A Grave Virtual Cemetery is essentially a collection of names from the Find A Grave database. As a Find A Grave contributor, you can build Virtual Cemeteries to group listings in whatever way you would like. For example, you might make a 'Smith Family Virtual Cemetery' where you would place all of the members of your Smith family tree. Other examples: 'My Favorite Actors' or 'Memorials I Visit Often'. Be creative!

A VIRTUAL CEMETERY HAS NO RELATION TO A REAL CEMETERY! People listed in your VIRTUAL cemeteries can be buried in many different REAL cemeteries. You can add any name in the Find A Grave database to the Virtual Cemeteries you create. You can choose to make your Virtual Cemeteries visible to the visitors of your Find A Grave contributor page so that others can view the collections you have created.
